Tips For Completing A Home And Office Insulation And Draught Proofing To Save Money Project

By Roger McNiel

When beginning a project involving home and office insulation and draught proofing to save money safety is the first priority. The next step is to gather the materials required for the job. The final step is to gather the tools required and begin the job.

The number one rule in any project is safety. To ensure that the project is going to be a safe one collecting some items is important. In order to protect the eyes having proper eye protection is very important. Getting particles in the eyes is no picnic so make sure to get that eye gear.

The energy saving material that is being installed has particles of glass that can cause irritated and itchiness if it touches bare skin. Long sleeve shirts will help protect against any irritation that is caused during installation. Wearing gloves will also protect hands from being exposed as well and will add protection against splinters.

For the energy saving material installation the tools that are required consist of a staple gun with additional staples. A tape measure will also be required for measuring area prior to the application process. A box knife works the best for cutting this material so having one handy is a good idea before starting.

For the draft proofing portion the tools include a lighter or candle, a caulk gun and caulk. These items will not only help find the area that is affected but will also help get rid of it. If the draft is found to be coming from a door there are special kits available for doors that can be installed with screws and a drill.

Installing energy saving material is a fairly easy job to perform. In order to apply it the first step is to measure the opening. After measuring the next part is to cut the piece to fit in. Upon making the piece press the installation material into the opening and then using the staple gun and secure it by adding a staple every six inches.

When properly draft proofing the first step is to use a candle or lighter to find where the draft is coming in from. After finding the drafts location, use the caulking gun and the caulk material to seal up the affected area. By squeezing the guns trigger apply the caulk to the drafts source.
